Updates From HQ (May 2024)

Updated over 4 months ago

In the third edition of our Behind The Scenes Updates we catch up some things from part 1 and have a few new things to announce...

Company & People (& Dogs & Robots)

  • We’ve opened applications for a new full time entry level role: Events Assistant & Customer Support. If you know anyone that’s hard working and would relish the opportunity please do recommend them.

  • We’ve hired another Laura (that’s 3 now) to join the customer support team 👩‍💻 and built an AI robot 🤖 (called Scout) to provide coverage in the times the team isn't available (more on this below).

  • In a mini Wildkind fairytale we now have a team mascot! Meet Poplar 😍 She was found abandoned in the woods by tree climbing leader Albi, and after many vet trips and healing has now been adopted by Laura who heads up programming! Here she is sporting a fabulous necker on her first official site visit.

Events

  • 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏃🏿‍♂️ There’s just over 3 months to go until our 2024 summer season kicks off! That has come around FAST but we could not be more ready to get out there and give you an incredible weekend 🥳

  • 🔥 All 3 of this summer's events sold out by 14th Apr 🔥 A post-covid record and hopefully a good sign that the events industry is starting to turn a corner. (If you missed out there is a very small resale taking place next week).

  • 🪢 Applications are now open if you would like to join our summer team in a paid or volunteer capacity. You can apply to join the Cast (Patrol Leaders, Stage Hosts, Firemasters etc) or Crew (Bar Staff, Ticketing Team, Rangers etc).

  • 🌮 We’ve also built a new contact centre to make it easier for other businesses to get in touch with the right members of our team. If you are an Activity Supplier, Event Supplier, Performer or Trader then use the forms here to get in touch.

  • 🎤 We’ve created a Youth Forum to lead the decisions around the programme and facilities we provide for this age group!

  • 👋 Social Clubs: we’re adding infrastructure (meeting areas, signage) and programming (meetups, activities) aimed specifically at helping you meet new people (whether you are coming solo or with friends/family). We often hear that making new friends is one of your favourite parts of Camp, so we want to support more of it.

  • 🌲 ✨ For those that want more relaxed spaces, we are adding a new live music stage near the campfire AND a magical new chill out space in the heart of the forest ✨🌲

Things We’re Working On

👩‍💻🧑‍💻 Customer Support Improvements 👩‍💻🧑‍💻

  • Version 1 of our new Customer Support framework and tech stack is up and running thanks to a massive effort from Charlotte.

  • A brand new knowledge-base to host all the answers, tips and tricks you need to make the most of your weekend.

  • An AI bot called Scout that can answer your questions and give you advice 24/7 via the webchat in the bottom right corner.

  • More human support with a new part time team member being trained this week and a full time person being hired (apply here) in the next 2 weeks.

  • Please go and put them through their paces and give us as much feedback as possible so we can keep improving it ahead of summer.

🛶🕺🏻 Enrolment Improvements 🛶🕺🏻

  • Enrolment rebuild is going great guns as Sophie, Nate and Cem get into their stride.

  • The Beta Club has started testing their first versions; thank you so much to everyone that has signed up to that and given their feedback! (If you’d like to get involved just fill in this form)

  • This year was very much about re-building the foundations of Enrolment, but the team is managing to sneak in some of our most requested features like a new activity view…

Things We’re Thinking About

  • 🧩 Creating an official Wildkind Puzzlemaster position, whose job will be to create quests and challenges for campers across our digital channels and real life events.

  • ℹ️ Merging the Ranger team and Information team onsite to create a more holistic experience if you need support with something whilst at an event.

  • 🍷 Adding some Adults only activities like Wine Tasting or Cocktail Making for parents that want a break but don’t fancy the Sanctuary.

  • 🎭 Adding more programming on Fri afternoon for those that get pitched up early and have some time to kill before the initiations and parade.

As ever, we are always keen to hear your thoughts and ideas too.
